Genshin Impact Version 6.6 Luna VII Drops May 20: Nicole, Lohen, and a Mavuika Rerun You Cannot Ignore

Genshin Impact Version 6.6, titled Luna VII, is just days away and HoYoverse is not playing around this time. Three brand-new characters, two massive rerun banners, and a weapon lineup that could reshape your entire roster are all landing on May 20, 2026. If you have been hoarding Primogems, this update might be the most dangerous one yet for your wallet.

What Is New in Genshin Impact Version 6.6 Luna VII

Version 6.6 arrives on May 20, 2026 and follows the familiar two-phase banner system. But do not let the routine fool you. This update introduces Nicole, Lohen, and Prune as fresh additions to the roster, each bringing something the current meta has been quietly begging for. The special program preview aired on May 8 and dropped enough details to send the community into a frenzy.

Here is the breakdown of everything we know so far.

Phase 1 Banners: Nicole and Durin Return

The first half of Luna VII runs from May 20 to June 10 and is headlined by Nicole, a brand-new 5-Star Pyro Catalyst character. Nicole has been making appearances in story scenes and lore-heavy events throughout Version 6.5, and HoYoverse has been building her up as a major Hexenzirkel-connected character.

Based on the official drip marketing and community analysis, Nicole is expected to function as a powerful support unit with the following kit elements:

  • Team-wide ATK buffs that scale off her Pyro damage
  • Off-field Pyro damage application for consistent reactions
  • Shield utility that adds a layer of survivability
  • Elemental synergy specifically designed for Hexerei-focused teams

Accompanying Nicole is the rerun banner for Durin, the 5-Star Pyro Sword character who quickly became a fan favorite thanks to his aggressive, damage-first playstyle. The pairing is no accident. Nicole appears to synergize exceptionally well with Durin, which means pulling both could give you a devastating Pyro-focused team composition right out of the gate.

Phase 1 also features a dedicated weapon banner with two signature 5-Star weapons. Seven Edicts of Dust and Light is Nicole’s signature Catalyst, while Athome Artis serves as Durin’s signature Sword. If you plan to maximize both characters, budgeting for the weapon banner is highly recommended.

Phase 2 Banners: Lohen Debuts and Mavuika Comes Back

The second half runs from June 10 to July 1 and brings what many players consider the real star of the update. Lohen, a new 5-Star Cryo Polearm character, finally becomes playable after months of tease. He has already appeared in Version 6.5 story content and hidden interactions around Dornman Port, building serious anticipation among lore enthusiasts.

Lohen is tied to the Knights of Favonius and is rumored to focus on sustained Cryo damage with a reaction-based gameplay style. His signature weapon, Disaster and Remorse, is a 5-Star Polearm that will arrive alongside his banner. Early kit analysis suggests he could become a top-tier main DPS option, especially for teams that leverage Melt and Freeze compositions.

But the real headline for Phase 2 is the rumored rerun of Mavuika, the Pyro Archon. Since her initial release, Mavuika has consistently ranked as one of the strongest DPS characters in the entire game. If you missed her the first time around, this is your second chance to grab one of the most powerful units HoYoverse has ever designed. Her signature weapon, A Thousand Blazing Suns, is also expected to return on the Phase 2 weapon banner and remains one of the strongest Claymores available thanks to its Pyro DPS synergy.

Additionally, Prune, a new 4-Star Anemo Catalyst character, is expected to debut during Phase 2, though this has not been officially confirmed yet.

Should You Save Your Primogems

Version 6.6 is one of those rare updates where almost every banner has legitimate pull value. Nicole fills a support role the meta desperately needs. Lohen could redefine Cryo DPS rotations. And Mavuika is simply one of the best characters you can own, period.

The question is not whether you will pull, but which characters you can realistically afford. With Phase 1 and Phase 2 both offering compelling reasons to spend your Primogems, careful planning is essential. If you are a free-to-play player, prioritizing either Nicole or Lohen as your main pull, and using whatever is left for Mavuika, seems like the smartest approach.

Meanwhile, veterans who have been stockpiling since the beginning of the year might finally see their patience pay off with a near-complete banner clear.

What Do You Think

Version 6.6 Luna VII looks stacked with characters that could shake up the entire Genshin Impact meta. Nicole, Lohen, Durin, Mavuika, and Prune are all bringing something different to the table, and it is going to be interesting to see how the community builds teams around them.

Who are you pulling for in Luna VII? Are you going for Nicole’s support kit, building around Lohen’s Cryo DPS potential, or is this your chance to finally grab Mavuika? Drop your plans and team compositions in the comments below. We want to hear what the community is thinking.
