One Piece Finally Announces God Valley Movie for 2027 — Roger and Garp vs Rocks Is About to Break the Internet

The wait is over. After years of teasing, One Piece has finally announced its 15th anime film — and it is the one every fan has been begging for. ONE PIECE FILM: GOD VALLEY will hit Japanese theaters in Summer 2027, adapting the most mysterious battle in the entire series. And just in case that was not enough, a 16th film titled ONE PIECE FILM: BAAD is already locked in for 2029.

The announcement dropped at the very end of ONE PIECE DAY ’26, sending shockwaves through the fandom. Creator Eiichiro Oda had previously teased at Jump Festa 2026 that the next film would cover “something everyone would be very interested in” — and he was not bluffing. The God Valley Incident is the holy grail of One Piece lore.

What Actually Happened at God Valley?

For the uninitiated, the God Valley Incident took place 38 years before the current story and changed the world forever. The tyrannical Rocks D. Xebec — captain of the Rocks Pirates and arguably the most dangerous pirate who ever lived — took over the island of God Valley. What followed was an unthinkable team-up: Pirate King Gol D. Roger joined forces with Marine hero Monkey D. Garp to take Rocks down.

The battle ended with Rocks defeated, God Valley erased from every map, and Garp earning the title “Hero of the Marines.” But the details have always been shrouded in mystery. Who exactly was on Rocks’ crew? What was the World Government hiding on that island? What happened to the Celestial Dragons caught in the crossfire? This movie is expected to finally answer those questions.

The Legends Involved Are Insane

Think about the roster for a second. On one side: Rocks D. Xebec leading a crew that included a young Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido — three future Emperors of the Sea serving under one captain. On the other side: Gol D. Roger at his peak, fighting side by side with Monkey D. Garp in his prime. Add in figures like Saint Figarland Garling and the shadowy involvement of Imu and the World Government, and you have the most stacked battle in anime history.

This is not just another anime movie. This is the One Piece equivalent of Avengers: Endgame — decades of lore building toward a single legendary clash.

Why This Changes Everything

The last One Piece film, FILM RED, premiered in August 2022 and became the highest-grossing movie in franchise history, pulling in massive opening-weekend numbers with 1.57 million attendees in Japan alone. It introduced Uta, Shanks’ adopted daughter, and dominated the box office conversation for months.

But God Valley is different. FILM RED was an original story. The God Valley movie adapts canon lore that Oda has deliberately kept hidden for over two decades. Every revelation in this film will reshape how fans understand the entire series — from the meaning of the Will of D. to the true nature of the World Government and the reason Roger laughed at Laugh Tale.

The timing is also perfect. The One Piece anime, animated by Toei Animation, entered the Elbaf Arc in April 2026 after a three-month break. The manga has surpassed 600 million copies in print worldwide. The live-action series on Netflix is heading into its Alabasta saga for Season 3. One Piece is everywhere right now — and a God Valley movie in 2027 will be the crown jewel.

What About ONE PIECE FILM: BAAD in 2029?

Almost no details exist yet about the 2029 film, but the title alone has sparked wild speculation. Some fans believe BAAD could connect to the final saga of the story. Others think it might adapt the legendary final war teased since the beginning. Whatever it is, Toei Animation clearly has massive long-term plans for the franchise on the big screen.

What Do You Think?

Will the God Valley movie live up to 20 years of hype? Which moment are you most excited to see animated — Roger and Garp’s team-up, Rocks D. Xebec in his full glory, or the secrets the World Government tried to bury? And what on earth could FILM: BAAD be about? Drop your theories in the comments — the race to predict Oda’s next move starts now.
