Here is a number that should make every anime fan pay attention: Jujutsu Kaisen just pulled in 31.6 million views on Netflix in the first half of 2026. That is not just impressive, that is nearly double what Demon Slayer managed during the same window. The curse spirits are not just fighting on screen, they are conquering streaming platforms.
Netflix’s official What We Watched engagement report for January through June 2026 dropped recently, and the numbers are absolutely wild. Yuji Itadori and the Tokyo Jujutsu High crew are dominating in ways that even the most optimistic fans did not predict.
The Numbers Do Not Lie
Let us break this down. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3, which covers the first half of the Culling Game arc, hit 9.4 million views alone, making it Netflix’s most-watched anime season of the reporting period. But here is where it gets even crazier: the older seasons were not far behind. Season 1 grabbed 8.7 million views, and Season 2 pulled 6.7 million.
Combined, those three seasons occupied three of the five highest positions among anime on Netflix. Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, and Gojo Satoru literally took over the platform. Throw in the movies, and JJK added another 6.8 million views to its total. Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie alone accounted for 6.1 million of those.
Total hours watched? A staggering 202.1 million hours for Jujutsu Kaisen. That is nearly double Demon Slayer’s 105.4 million hours. For context, that is like every single person in Australia watching the entire series back to back.
Where Does Demon Slayer Stand?
Now, Demon Slayer is not exactly struggling. Tanjiro Kamado, Nezuko, Zenitsu, and Inosuke are still massive draws. But on Netflix specifically, the numbers tell a different story. Demon Slayer did not even place a single season in the anime top 10. Its best performer was the Hashira Training Arc at 4.1 million views, followed by Season 1 at 4 million.
The Entertainment District Arc pulled 3.8 million, the Mugen Train Arc hit 3.4 million, and the Swordsmith Village Arc managed 1.8 million. The Mugen Train movie added a modest 400,000. Impressive by normal standards, but when stacked against JJK’s dominance, it looks like a different league entirely.
Of course, this is strictly a Netflix comparison. Demon Slayer’s theatrical business and Crunchyroll numbers paint a different picture. But the fact remains: on the world’s biggest streaming platform, Jujutsu Kaisen is the undisputed king.
The Competition Is Not Even Close
The closest anime competitor to JJK on Netflix was JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run, which hit 8.3 million views with its first batch. Baki-Dou: The Invincible Samurai Season 1 followed at 8 million. After that, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity Season 1 (5.1 million), Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 (4.9 million), Record of Ragnarok Season 3 (4.6 million), Blue Lock Season 1 (4.2 million), and The Apothecary Diaries Season 1 (4.1 million) rounded out the top 10.
That lineup features some seriously heavy hitters, and JJK still crushes them all. Gege Akutami’s creation has become a cultural phenomenon that transcends the typical anime audience.
Season 4 Is Coming, and MAPPA Is Not Slowing Down
As if those numbers were not enough, MAPPA just confirmed that Jujutsu Kaisen Season 4: The Culling Game Part 2 is in active production. The teaser debuted during MAPPA’s 15th Anniversary event, and it looks absolutely terrifying. The second half of Kenjaku’s deadly battle royale is set to be darker, more intense, and more visually stunning than anything we have seen before.
There is a directorial shift worth noting too. Takeru Satō, who served as assistant director on Part 1, will step up to officially direct Season 4 under chief director Shōta Goshozono’s guidance. Series scriptwriter Hiroshi Seko and composer Yoshimasa Terui remain on board, so the creative DNA stays intact while bringing fresh energy behind the camera.
The teaser opens with quick recaps from the first half before diving into ominous new footage. If the Culling Game Part 1 was the appetizer, Part 2 looks like the main course that will leave fans emotionally devastated.
Why JJK Keeps Winning
What makes Jujutsu Kaisen’s Netflix success so remarkable is the staying power. Most anime see a massive spike with their newest season and then drop off. JJK’s older seasons are pulling millions of views years after their original release. That suggests the show is not just retaining fans, it is actively growing its audience with every new installment.
The combination of MAPPA’s gorgeous animation, Gege Akutami’s unpredictable storytelling, and a roster of characters that fans genuinely care about has created something special. Gojo Satoru alone is probably responsible for millions of rewatches, but the depth of the supporting cast, from Megumi Fushiguro to Todo Aoi, keeps people coming back.
And with the Culling Game arc raising the stakes to unprecedented levels, Season 4 is positioned to shatter every record Season 3 just set.
What Do You Think?
Is Jujutsu Kaisen the definitive anime of this generation, or does Demon Slayer still hold that crown when you factor in everything beyond Netflix? With Season 4 entering production and Season 3 pulling record numbers, the curse spirits seem unstoppable.
