But here is the thing that most fans are missing: Luffy’s exhaustion might not be a setback. It might be exactly what Eiichiro Oda wants us to see.
The Gear 5 Exhaustion Problem Is Bigger Than You Think
Throughout the Elbaf Arc, Luffy has been pushing Gear 5 harder than ever. Consider this theory: the Owl Library contains information about Imu’s true identity. Not just their name, but their weakness. The reason Imu has stayed hidden for 800 years is not just political — it is because someone, somewhere, recorded how to defeat them. And that record is in Elbaf.
If Robin discovers Imu’s weakness while Luffy is recovering, it would create the perfect narrative setup: Luffy does not just come back stronger — he comes back informed. For the first time in the series, the Straw Hats would not be fighting blind against a world-ending threat.
Prince Loki’s Mysterious Transformation Changes Everything
Chapter 1193 dropped one more bombshell that most readers glossed over. Prince Loki, the imprisoned Elbaf prince who made a dark bargain earlier in the arc, is transforming. The silhouette Oda showed us was deliberately obscured — but the implications are massive.
Loki’s connection to the World Government and his apparent betrayal of the giants suggests he might have access to a power that rivals the Ancient Weapons.
