13,086,239 votes. 1,567 characters. Five long years of waiting. When the final results of the second ONE PIECE WORLD TOP 100 global popularity poll dropped live at ONE PIECE DAY ’26 at Makuhari Messe on August 23, nobody was shocked that Monkey D. Luffy won. What sent the fandom into full meltdown mode, though, was the man sitting quietly in 9th place — Dracule Mihawk, a character who wasn’t even in the top 10 at the midterm count.
The poll ran from March 4 to June 11, 2026, and it wasn’t exactly smooth sailing. Organizers had to deal with a fraudulent voting scandal mid-campaign before cleaning up the ballots ahead of the finale. If you caught our One Piece Day 2026 preview, you already knew this reveal could break the anime internet — and it absolutely delivered.
The Final Top 10: The Monster Trio Rules Everything
Here’s how the throne room looks after 13 million votes were counted:
- Monkey D. Luffy — 2,378,519 points
- Roronoa Zoro — 2,148,793 points
- Sanji — 1,399,204 points
- Nami — 1,007,955 points
- Trafalgar Law — 732,301 points
- Nico Robin — 322,461 points
- Portgas D. Ace — 301,112 points
- Shanks — 204,827 points
- Dracule Mihawk — 202,744 points
- Crocodile (Mr. 0) — 201,971 points
Luffy vs Zoro was a genuine race — barely 230,000 votes apart. Nami deserves her flowers as the only woman to crack a million votes, but look at the cliff after Trafalgar Law: the drop from 5th to 6th place is a jaw-dropping 400,000+ votes. The Straw Hat crew and their closest allies own this franchise, and the numbers prove it brutally.
The Upsets Nobody Saw Coming
Mihawk’s surge to 9th is the headline-grabber, but he didn’t crash the party alone. Crocodile clawed his way from 15th at midterm up to 10th, proving the Cross Guild duo’s stock has never been higher. Their gains came at a cost: Uta slipped to 15th and fan-favorite Tony Tony Chopper landed at 13th.
Then there’s Carrot, pulling off the single biggest jump in the entire top 30 — leaping from 29th at midterm all the way to 16th. The mink nation is clearly still hungry. Meanwhile, Nefeltari Vivi reminded everyone why she’s irreplaceable by entering at 28th despite barely appearing in the main story for years, and Charlotte Cracker snuck into 21st. Bad news for the midterm darlings though: Rob Lucci, Bartholomew Kuma, and Charlotte Katakuri all tumbled out of the top 30 entirely.
And keep an eye on two names deeper in the list: Rocks D. Xebec at 17th and Loki at 20th. Fans voting characters who’ve only appeared in recent flashback chapters into the global top 20 says everything about where the story’s energy is right now. Our God Valley theory and latest chapter breakdown both argue these two are about to matter enormously — and 13 million voters seem to agree.
Oda Himself Is Drawing 30 Brand-New Illustrations
The rewards for making the cut are absurd. Every top 30 character gets a brand-new illustration drawn by Eiichiro Oda in custom “WT100 Special Outfit” designs created just for this poll. Even better, they’ll be published as three consecutive connectable poster inserts in Weekly Shonen Jump across three December 2026 issues — designed to fit together into one giant artwork. Mugiwara Store merchandise will follow.
Real Rewards: Anime Eyecatches and Card Game Leader Cards
The perks scale with the rankings. The top 15 characters will receive dedicated eyecatches in the One Piece anime throughout 2027, while the top 50 are slated to become Leader Cards in the One Piece Card Game as part of a Summer 2027 expansion. That means Mihawk, Crocodile, Carrot, and even Rocks D. Xebec are now officially locked in for future cards — a collector’s dream and a competitive meta shake-up in one.
“Tell Us, Oda!!” — Ask Oda Your Burning Questions
As if that weren’t enough, ONE PIECE DAY ’26 also launched a new fan Q&A program called “Tell Us, Oda!!”. From today until September 30, 2026, fans worldwide can submit questions about any of the top 30 characters directly to Oda through the official WT100 website. His answers will be published in Weekly Shonen Jump and ONE PIECE Magazine Vol. 022. Yes, you could literally get canon answers about Mihawk’s past straight from the man himself.
What Do You Think?
Did your favorite character make the top 30? Is Mihawk’s 9th-place finish earned or a meme campaign gone too far? And seriously — should Carrot just join the Straw Hats already? Drop your personal top 10 in the comments and let the war begin!
