An Immortal Sibling Drama Like No Other
In a surprise announcement that has sent shockwaves through the manga community, Millennium Family is getting an anime adaptation! The series, created by Akira Kasugai, was first serialized in Young King OURs magazine back in March 2021 and has already spawned eight volumes of addictive storytelling.
But here is what makes this premise absolutely bonkers: imagine having eternal life as a family superpower. Seven immortal siblings born in England can literally never die — their bodies will heal from any wound, they do not age past a certain point, and time itself refuses to claim them. Sounds like a blessing?
It is also a curse that has made them targets for centuries.
The Plot That Has Everyone Hooked
The story centers on Theodore Benfield (voiced by Rikuya Yasuda in the anime), a British man who has been living in Japan for quite some time. His quiet life gets utterly destroyed when his younger sister Rhyne gets kidnapped by mysterious forces. Suddenly, Theo finds himself reunited with his six siblings — something that has not happened in hundreds of years.
Why? Because immortality does not mean a happy family reunion. Their gift has made them hunted prey for criminal organizations desperate to harvest their regenerative abilities, corrupt hospitals conducting unethical experiments, and international military programs that would kill to weaponize their DNA.
When we meet them, the siblings are fleeing across America after their private jet gets blown out of the sky. They survive — obviously — but injuries pile up and the threat level just keeps climbing. The decision to hole up together at Theo’s Tokyo apartment marks the first time in centuries that these seven immortals have lived under one roof.
Staff Lineup Brings Serious Credentials
PartsCraft is handling animation duties, with director Masato Jinbo leading the charge. Jinbo is no stranger to acclaimed series — he directed Restaurant to Another World, proving he can balance slice-of-life warmth with action sequences. For character design and chief animation direction, Hiroshi Yoneda steps in while script supervision and story oversight comes straight from Jinbo himself.
The series is written by Akira Kasugai, who adapts the original manga source material directly into anime form. With Orange Inc. holding the English licensing rights and volume nine hitting shelves July 30, 2026 (three days from now!), this feels like perfect timing for maximum promotional impact.
Fan Reactions Are Already Exploding
The announcement trailer and teaser visual dropped today and fans are going absolutely wild. Social media is flooded with theories about how the show will handle the immortal sibling dynamics, which historical events each brother and sister witnessed during their centuries apart, and whether the Japanese setting will eventually expand into other locations.
“The concept alone sounds insane enough to be amazing,” wrote one popular manga reviewer on X. “Immortals dealing with family trauma while being hunted by shadowy orgs? This could be Dark Angel meets Good Omens but with way more violence.”
Another fan noted the interesting casting choice of Rikuya Yasuda, a relatively new voice actor stepping into a lead role. Fans familiar with Yasuda’s previous work expect strong performances given his reputation for bringing emotional depth to dramatic characters.
What Makes This Adaptation Special
Millennium Family stands out in the crowded summer 2026 anime season for several reasons:
- Family dynamics over harem tropes: Too many supernatural shows lean into romantic subplots. This focuses on sibling relationships — complicated, messy, immortal ones.
- Historical scope: Seven people living for centuries means flashbacks spanning multiple eras. We are talking Victorian London to modern Tokyo in the same episode sometimes.
- Action with consequences: Even though nobody dies permanently, every fight scene carries real stakes because healing takes time and leaves scars.
- Mystery elements: Who are the organizations hunting them? How did they discover immortality existed? What secrets keep surfacing from each sibling’s past?
No Release Date Yet — But Hype Is Real
Unfortunately, PartsCraft and the production committee have not announced a specific premiere date yet. However, based on typical production schedules for a project of this scale and quality, we could see it debut sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.
Until then, fans have the manga to catch up on — and trust me, you will want to read all eight available volumes before the anime airs. Volume nine drops next week if you want to stay ahead of the curve.
