MAPPA Just Went Nuclear at Their 15th Anniversary — Chainsaw Man Assassins Arc, JJK Part 2, Dorohedoro S3, and a Mobile Game

If you thought Anime Expo 2026 was the peak of anime news this summer, MAPPA just laughed in your face. On June 19, 2026, the legendary animation studio held a massive livestreamed event to celebrate its 15th anniversary, and what they revealed has the entire anime community losing its collective mind. We’re talking Chainsaw Man’s Assassins Arc, Jujutsu Kaisen Culling Game Part 2, Dorohedoro Season 3, Ranma 1/2 Season 3, a Chainsaw Man mobile game, and not one but two brand-new Netflix anime series. This wasn’t just an anniversary celebration — it was a declaration of war against every other studio in the industry.

Chainsaw Man — Assassins Arc: Denji’s Worst Nightmare Is Coming

The headline everyone was waiting for. After the explosive success of Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc that dominated theaters worldwide, MAPPA confirmed that the anime will continue with the International Assassins Arc, set to arrive in late 2027. A brand-new teaser trailer dropped during the event, showcasing the unhinged lineup of international killers now converging on Japan to claim Denji’s heart.

For those unfamiliar with the manga, the Assassins Arc picks up right after Denji’s cataclysmic battle with Reze. His identity as Chainsaw Man has been broadcast to the entire world, and every assassin on the planet now has a target on his back. This arc introduces some of the most bizarre, terrifying, and outright hilarious characters in the entire series — including the infamous Santa Claus (yes, really) and the Darkness Devil, who many fans consider the most disturbing antagonist Fujimoto has ever created.

The big question still lingering: TV series or movie? MAPPA hasn’t officially confirmed the format. The official Assassins Arc website isn’t labeled as a “movie” like the Reze Arc was, which many fans are interpreting as a strong signal that we’re getting a full TV season. At roughly 18 chapters of source material, it’s the perfect length for either a 12-episode season or a theatrical release. Either way, with JJK Season 4 also in the pipeline, MAPPA’s action schedule is going to be absolutely stacked.

Jujutsu Kaisen — Culling Game Arc Part 2 Is Already in Production

Just when you thought MAPPA couldn’t top the Chainsaw Man reveal, they pulled out a teaser for Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Arc Part 2. Season 3 wrapped earlier this year to massive acclaim, and MAPPA wasted zero time confirming that the next installment is “diligently in production.”

The teaser showcased what appeared to be finished cuts of animation, which is a huge deal. Remember the production struggles that plagued earlier seasons? Those days seem to be firmly in the past. The event also featured a “JuJu Talk” special segment with voice actors Junya Enoki (Yuji Itadori) and Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu), hinting that Yuta’s role in the upcoming arc is going to be significant.

The Culling Game is one of the most action-dense arcs in all of modern shonen manga, and Part 2 promises to deliver the climactic battles fans have been waiting years to see animated. If MAPPA maintains the quality of Season 3, this could easily be the anime event of 2027.

Dorohedoro Season 3: The Madness Continues

This one caught everyone off guard. After Season 2 debuted on Netflix in April 2026 to rave reviews, MAPPA confirmed that Dorohedoro Season 3 is officially in production. The teaser was peak Dorohedoro chaos, reading: “SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! NIKAIDO AWAKENS. THE CROSS-EYE BOSS’ FACE PEELS OFF. SAJI BECOMES A PIE.” If you know, you know.

Dorohedoro has always been one of MAPPA’s most visually distinctive and narratively unhinged projects. The series follows Caiman, a man with a reptile head trying to figure out who cursed him, in a world where sorcerers casually terrorize the inhabitants of “The Hole.” Season 2 deepened the mythology significantly, and Season 3 is poised to deliver answers fans have been waiting for since the manga’s conclusion.

Ranma 1/2 Season 3 and New Netflix Originals

MAPPA’s remake of Rumiko Takahashi’s classic Ranma 1/2 has been a surprise hit, and Season 3 is confirmed for October 2026. The new trailer highlighted the escalating rivalry between Ranma and Ryoga over Akane, promising more slapstick martial arts chaos that made the original a global phenomenon. It will stream exclusively on Netflix.

Beyond returning favorites, MAPPA announced two entirely new Netflix anime:

  • Jimoto Saiko! — A dark comedy about a small delinquent girl navigating her chaotic hometown. Based on the manga by usagi/Saizusha, it’s described as “absurdist” and looks absolutely wild. Coming 2027.
  • Beat & Motion — A showbiz drama about a young man who gave up on making anime and the indie musician who reignites his passion. Based on Naoki Fujita’s manga serialized in Shonen Jump Plus.

There was also a teaser for Fall in Love, You False Angels, a romance series about a perfect student president and her vice president who both harbor dark secrets. Coming 2027.

Chainsaw Man Mobile Game — With Maximum the Hormone

As if all of that wasn’t enough, MAPPA also revealed a Chainsaw Man gacha mobile game currently in development. The opening movie — produced entirely by MAPPA — features the song “All the Lynch All the Mince” by Maximum the Hormone, the same band behind the iconic Chainsaw Man ending theme “CHAINSAW BLOOD.” The trailer alone goes absurdly hard, and if the game captures even a fraction of the anime’s energy, it’s going to be a massive hit.

What This Means for MAPPA’s Dominance

Let’s be real: MAPPA is operating on a different level right now. The studio has faced criticism in the past over grueling working conditions and production crunches, but this anniversary event showed a studio that has not only survived those growing pains but emerged stronger. The animation quality in the teasers was consistently jaw-dropping, and the sheer breadth of projects — from shonen action to dark comedy to romance — shows a studio that refuses to be pigeonholed.

An Attack on Titan Final Season retrospective also took place during the event, with director Yuichiro Hayashi and voice actress Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa) reflecting on the legacy of one of anime’s most important productions. It was a fitting reminder of just how much MAPPA has shaped the modern anime landscape.

If the teasers deliver on their promise, 2027 is going to be MAPPA’s year — and every other studio should be paying attention.
