Fate/strange Fake Just Confirmed a New Season — And ‘Rise Against the Rules’ Promises to Shatter Every Rule of the Holy Grail War

The Season 1 finale ended with two words on screen — “to be continued” — and fans of the most chaotic Holy Grail War ever written have been chewing their nails ever since. Well, the wait is officially over: Fate/strange Fake has just been confirmed for a brand new season, complete with a teaser visual that carries a very loaded message: “Rise Against the Rules.” If you know anything about the fake Grail War brewing in Snowfield, Nevada, you already know those four words are an understatement of catastrophic proportions.

The Announcement Fans Have Been Waiting For

Right after the final episode of the first TV anime season aired, the official channels dropped the confirmation along with a striking teaser visual featuring the series’ central duo. The first season ran for 13 episodes under A-1 Pictures, beginning its regular broadcast in January 2026 after a surprise world premiere of Episode 1, “The Heroic Spirit Incident,” back on December 31, 2024.

The production staff from Season 1 is returning in full force. Directors Shun Enokido and Takahito Sakazume are back at the helm, adapting the light novel series written by Ryohgo Narita (the mind behind Baccano! and Durarara!!) with original character designs by Shizuki Morii. No release window has been announced yet, but given how far ahead anime productions are scheduled these days, expect more concrete news sooner rather than later.

Why Snowfield Is the Wildest Grail War Ever Written

For the uninitiated: Fate/strange Fake takes the classic Holy Grail War formula and gleefully sets it on fire. A group of magi attempts to recreate the Fuyuki ritual in Snowfield, Nevada — but the copy is so botched and so improvised that the entire war descends into beautiful, unscripted madness.

You get an Archer who refuses to fight like an Archer, a Lancer whose true identity is one of fiction’s greatest trolls, and a city-wide free-for-all where half the participants aren’t even proper Masters. Narita’s signature ensemble storytelling means every faction gets the spotlight, and every episode ends with alliances you never saw coming. It is, quite frankly, the perfect playground for anyone who ever looked at the original Fate storyline and thought, “but what if everything went wrong differently?”

The Dream Team Behind the Madness

One of the biggest reasons this announcement hit so hard is the voice cast, and it’s stacked:

  • Kana Hanazawa as Ayaka Sajo, the reluctant Master dragged into the war
  • Yuki Ono as Saber, her wildly unconventional knight
  • Tomokazu Seki as Archer, the fan-favorite scene-stealer
  • Yu Kobayashi as Lancer, pure chaotic energy in human form
  • Daisuke Namikawa as Lord El-Melloi II, tying the whole Fate universe together
  • Sumire Morohoshi as Tiné Chelc and Aoi Koga as Tsubaki Kuruoka rounding out the cast

And let’s not forget the music: legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano handles the score, which means every battle comes pre-loaded with goosebumps. When Sawano drops a vocal track mid-clash, the entire fandom collectively loses its mind — it’s practically law at this point.

What Could Season 2 Actually Cover?

Without diving too deep into spoiler territory: the light novels have plenty of material left, and the story is only accelerating. The fractured alliances in Snowfield are about to collide head-on, several Servants still haven’t revealed their True Names, and the mysterious forces manipulating the war from the shadows are getting bolder. The teaser’s tagline, “Rise Against the Rules,” suggests the new season will lean even harder into the rule-breaking chaos that makes this entry so special.

If you need something to binge while waiting, check out what’s coming next across the board — from the massive Jujutsu Kaisen September event to the jaw-dropping Oshi no Ko final season teaser. 2026 is absolutely spoiling anime fans right now.
