Kagurabachi Anime Confirmed for Crunchyroll April 2027 — Cast, Studio, and World Tour Revealed

If you have been anywhere near anime Twitter in the past year, you have seen the name Kagurabachi plastered everywhere. What started as a manga meme turned into one of Weekly Shonen Jump hottest serializations and now it is finally getting the anime treatment it deserves. Crunchyroll just confirmed they have locked down international streaming rights, and honestly? This might be the biggest anime announcement of 2026.

What Is Kagurabachi?

Written and illustrated by Takeru Hokazono, Kagurabachi follows Chihiro Rokuhira, a young swordsman with a dark past. His father, Kunishige Rokuhira, was Japan most legendary swordsmith a man who forged six enchanted blades during the devastating Seitei War. But when a mysterious sorcerer organization called the Hishaku murders Kunishige and steals those blades, Chihiro peaceful life is shattered.

Armed with one of his father magical katanas, Chihiro sets out on a blood-soaked quest for vengeance. It is dark, it is stylish, and it has some of the best sword fight choreography in modern manga. If you are a fan of chainsaw-wielding maniacs and cursed energy battles, Kagurabachi fits right in that wheelhouse but with katanas.

The Dream Team Behind the Anime

The anime is being produced by Studio Cypic formerly known as Cygames Pictures, the studio behind hits like Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and The Summer Hikaru Died. They have rebranded and they are coming out swinging with Kagurabachi as their flagship project.

Directing is Tetsuya Takeuchi, who previously worked as a key animator on Naruto and Naruto Shippuden. That is a pretty solid pedigree for a series that is basically all about sword fights. Character designs are handled by Keigo Sasaki, so expect the cast to look absolutely gorgeous.

The anime industry has been on fire lately with major studio announcements Ghost in the Shell reboot also turned heads earlier this summer.

The Voice Cast Is Stacked

Crunchyroll also dropped some major casting news. Taihi Kimura, who won the Best New Actor award at the 2025 Seiyu Awards, will voice protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira. That is a huge deal they are betting on a rising star to carry the lead role.

Tomokazu Seki (yes, the legendary voice behind Gilgamesh in Fate and Domon in G Gundam) takes on the role of Kunishige Rokuhira. And just announced, Katsuyuki Konishi known for roles like Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer and Laxus in Fairy Tail joins the cast as Togo Shiba.

That is a seriously stacked lineup for what many people dismissed as the meme manga when it first launched.

World Tour: Watch Episode 1 Before Everyone Else

Here is where it gets exciting. Before the April 2027 premiere, the Kagurabachi team is going on a worldwide screening tour. The Kagurabachi Anime World Tour Part 1 will hit these major conventions:

  • Anime Expo (Los Angeles, July 2026)
  • Japan Expo (Paris)
  • AnimagiC (Germany)
  • Otakon (Washington D.C.)
  • Anime NYC (New York)

If you are attending any of these events, you could be among the first people on Earth to see Kagurabachi animated. That is bragging rights for life.

Why Kagurabachi Matters

When Kagurabachi first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, the internet treated it as a joke. Memes about the series flooded social media, with people ironically hyping it up before a single chapter was even translated. But then something happened people actually read it, and it was genuinely good.

The manga quickly became one of Jump fastest-growing series, earning praise for its tight action sequences, compelling revenge narrative, and Chihiro cold-but-compelling character design. It is proof that sometimes the internet accidentally hypes up something that actually delivers.

With MAPPA recent 15th anniversary event dropping bombshell announcements left and right, and now Kagurabachi locking in its anime debut, 2027 is shaping up to be a massive year for anime fans.

Release Date and Where to Watch

Kagurabachi premieres in April 2027 and will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll in all territories except Japan, mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. Additional casting and production details are expected in the coming months.

What Do You Think?

Are you hyped for Kagurabachi, or are you still skeptical about the meme manga getting an anime? Will you be trying to catch the World Tour screenings? And which Shonen Jump series do you think Kagurabachi will dethrone in popularity? Drop your thoughts below this one is going to be fun to watch unfold.
