Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 Finally Gets July 8 Premiere Date — And the Theme Songs Are Absolutely Insane

If you thought Tanya Degurechaff was done wrecking the battlefield, think again. After nearly a decade of waiting since the first season aired in January 2017, The Saga of Tanya the Evil Season 2 just dropped a bombshell announcement: it officially premieres on July 8, 2026. And that is not even the most exciting part of today’s reveal.

The official X account for the series unveiled a stunning new key visual along with the opening and ending theme song artists, and if you are a fan of the first season, you are going to love what is coming.

The Theme Songs Are Returning With Maximum Impact

MYTH & ROID is back for the opening theme with a brand new track called Why? RED induction. If you remember their work on Season 1, you already know this is going to be heavy, atmospheric, and absolutely perfect for a show about a ruthless tactical genius reincarnated as a little girl in the middle of a war-torn world.

But the real shocker is the ending theme. Weiter! Weiter! will be performed by none other than Aoi Yuki herself, singing in character as Tanya Degurechaff. That is right — the voice actress who brought Tanya to life is stepping into the recording booth to deliver the ending theme. How wild is that?

This is not just a gimmick. Aoi Yuki has always been one of the most versatile voice actresses in the industry, and hearing her sing as Tanya adds a whole new layer to the character. Expect something dark, haunting, and unforgettable.

The Yojo Shenki Mini-Anime Returns Too

Here is a fun bonus: the Yojo Shenki mini-anime is coming back as well. New episodes will air directly after each episode of Season 2, giving fans that extra dose of comedic content featuring chibi versions of the cast. It is a nice contrast to the intense military drama of the main series.

Who Is Behind Season 2?

Studio NUT is returning to animate the sequel, with Takayuki Yukimoto directing once again. Kenta Ihara handles the series composition, and Yuji Hosogoe serves as both character designer and chief animation director. That is a solid lineup that maintained consistency with the original production.

The anime is based on the light novel series written by Carlo Zen with illustrations by Shinobu Shinotsuki, published by Kadokawa Corporation. For those who have not read the source material, Season 2 is expected to adapt the escalating conflicts that push Tanya and the 203rd Aerial Mage Battalion into even more dangerous territory.

The Full Returning Cast

First revealed in a trailer at AnimeJapan 2026, the main cast is reprising their iconic roles:

  • Aoi Yuki as Tanya Degurechaff
  • Saori Hayami as Viktoriya Ivanovna Visha Serebryakov
  • Shinichiro Miki as Erich Rerugen
  • Tesho Genda as Kurt von Rudersdorf
  • Hochu Otsuka as Hans von Zettour
  • Daiki Hamano as Matheus Johann Weiss
  • Yusuke Kobayashi as Vooren Grantz

The fact that the entire main cast is returning is a massive win for fans. Consistency in voice acting matters enormously for a character-driven show like this, and keeping the same seiyuu lineup means Season 2 will feel like a seamless continuation.

Why This Season Matters So Much

The first season premiered way back in January 2017 and quickly became one of the most unique anime of its era. It blended alternate-world military strategy with isekai reincarnation in a way that felt genuinely fresh. The follow-up movie, The Saga of Tanya the Evil: The Movie, dropped in February 2019 and set up the story for where Season 2 will pick up.

Now, with Crunchyroll confirming they will stream the new season, fans around the world will get to watch Tanya’s next chapter as it airs. The story follows a young blonde girl with blue eyes who enters the Imperial Military Academy and rises through the ranks as an aviation mage — except she is actually a reincarnated Japanese salaryman with a personal vendetta against the mysterious Being X who put her in this situation.

The premise alone has kept fans theorizing for years. What does Being X really want? Will Tanya ever break free from the cycle? And just how far will she go to maintain control over her own fate?
