Saga of Tanya the Evil II Just Dropped a NEW Visual and Fans Are Absolutely Losing It

Saga of Tanya the Evil is back and the second season is hitting harder than a Type 95 computation orb overload. Kadokawa just dropped a stunning new key visual, confirmed the July 8 premiere date, revealed the theme song artists, and announced a companion mini-anime series all in one go. If you thought the first season was intense, this announcement is about to blow your mind.

The original series aired in 2017 and quickly became one of the most talked-about anime of its year. The concept of a ruthless Japanese salaryman reincarnated as a young girl in an alternate World War I-era Europe, forced to fight as a military mage, was unlike anything else in the isekai genre. Now the sequel is finally arriving and the hype train has left the station.

MYTH & Roid Returns for the Opening Theme

Here is something that should make longtime fans incredibly happy. The band MYTH & Roid is back to compose, arrange, and perform the opening theme song titled “Why? RED induction.” The same group that delivered the iconic “JINGO JUNGLE” opening from Season 1 is returning, and that alone is enough to get the community buzzing. The opening from the first season became one of the most recognized anime OPs of 2017 and expectations are already through the roof.

But the ending theme is equally exciting. The title character Tanya Degurechaff herself, voiced by the legendary Aoi Yuki, is once again performing the ending theme song “Weiter! Weiter!” The track features lyrics by hotaru with music and arrangement by Masayuki Nakano of THE SPELLBOUND and BOOM BOOM SATELLITES fame. Having both the OP and ED return with the same creative team gives Season 2 an undeniable sense of continuity.

July 8 Premiere Date Confirmed Across Multiple Networks

Saga of Tanya the Evil II will premiere on July 8, 2026 at 9:30 p.m. on AT-X. The anime will also broadcast across Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS11, and TV Aichi. That is a massive multi-network rollout that signals Kadokawa has serious confidence in this sequel.

The timing is interesting too. A summer 2026 premiere puts Tanya right in the middle of what is shaping up to be an absolutely stacked anime season. She will be competing for eyeballs alongside some serious heavy hitters which speaks volumes about how confident the production team is in this project.

Yōjo Shenki 2 Mini-Anime Coming Alongside the Main Series

Here is the fun surprise. Just like the first season, Season 2 is getting its own mini-anime series called “Yōjo Shenki 2,” a playful parody spin on the title. Each mini-anime episode will air immediately after the main episode on AT-X and will also stream on the Kadokawa Anime Channel on YouTube starting the following Thursday at midnight JST.

The mini-anime format has been a huge hit for franchises that take themselves very seriously. It gives fans a chance to see the characters in ridiculous and comedic situations that would never happen in the main storyline. Given Tanya is already a walking contradiction, a terrifying military genius trapped in the body of a young girl, the comedy potential is absolutely massive.

What We Know About Season 2 So Far

The second season adapts Carlo Zen’s light novel series with illustrations by Shinobu Shinotsuki. While the exact story arcs being covered have not been fully detailed, fans are speculating that the season will dive deeper into the escalating conflict on the eastern front and potentially explore Tanya’s increasingly complicated relationship with Being X, the mysterious entity who reincarnated her in the first place.

Aoi Yuki returning as Tanya Degurechaff was essentially guaranteed. Her performance as the cold, calculating, yet darkly hilarious protagonist is one of the defining voice acting performances of modern anime. No one else could pull off a character who delivers ruthless military strategies with the voice of a child quite like her.

Why This Sequel Matters in 2026

The isekai landscape has changed dramatically since Season 1 aired in 2017. Back then, Tanya stood out as a refreshingly dark and intelligent take on the reincarnation genre. Nearly a decade later, the anime industry has seen an explosion of isekai titles. But very few have matched the combination of military strategy, dark comedy, and philosophical questioning that made Saga of Tanya the Evil so special.

The fact that Kadokawa invested in a full multi-network broadcast, brought back MYTH & Roid, and even produced a companion mini-anime suggests this is not a half-hearted cash grab sequel. This is a production that genuinely wants to deliver on the promise of the original series.

What Do You Think?

Are you hyped for Saga of Tanya the Evil II? Do you think MYTH & Roid can top “JINGO JUNGLE” with “Why? RED induction”? Will the mini-anime be as hilarious as the first season’s version? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and let’s debate. The July 8 premiere cannot come soon enough for fans who have been waiting almost a decade for this sequel.
